The second season of BBC One’s popular comedy series Citizen Khan will premiere on Friday October 4th at 9:30pm, it has been announced.

Created by Adil Ray, Citizen Khan is set in the capital of British Pakistan – Sparkhill, Birmingham. It follows the trials and tribulations of self-appointed Muslim community leader Mr Khan and his long suffering family. Khan is a larger than life character, a small man with big dreams and strident opinions. Things would be so much easier if everyone just listened to him and followed his lead, but his obsessively house-proud wife and two feisty daughters have other ideas. The comedy series is produced by BBC In-house Comedy and stars Adil Ray as Mr Khan, Shobu Kapoor as Mrs Khan, Maya Sondhi as Shazia Khan and Bhavna Limbachia as Alia Khan. In addition to the six episode second season, BBC One has also ordered a Christmas special. In the opening episode of the show’s second season, titled Alia’s College, Mr Khan’s day off from being a ‘busy’ community leader is interrupted when Alia fails her exams, prompting Mrs Khan to lay down the law. She tells Mr Khan to sign Alia up at the Muslim Academy, but when he finds out how much it costs, Khan decides there’s a better option…
