EXCLUSIVE: Gold’s first original sitcom has line up a number of guest stars for its six episode first season. I’ve learned that James Alexandrou (EastEnders), Ken Collard (Cuckoo) and Su Douglas (Coronation Street) are amongst the many actors who will be appearing on the series in guest roles. Created by Steve Turner, You, Me and Them tells the story of Ed (Anthony Head) and Lauren (Eve Myles) who are madly in love, despite their 20 plus-year age gap. The only problem is that Lauren’s family and everyone around them seems to have an opinion on the subject. Ed’s ex-wife Lydia rents the house opposite the couple, Lauren’s family are constantly meddling and Ed’s friends think she’s a trophy girlfriend. You can choose your partner but you can’t choose your family. Lindsay Duncan, Susie Blake, Alice Felgate, Miller Henderson, Nigel Betts, Joshua McGuire, Marcus Garvey, Daisy Beaumont and Jeff Rawle also star. Hat Trick Productions is producing the comedy series with Angela Sinden serving as the producer and Helen Williams serving as the executive producer. Bob Servant Independent helmer Simon Hynd is attached to direct.

ITV’s recently announced two part drama Lucan has also added a pair of actors to its cast. My sources tell me that Angus Wright (Murder On The Home Front) and Julian Firth (Secret State) have both landed roles on the drama. Wright has been cast as Colonel Bill Stirling, a member of the Clermont Club; while Firth has been cast as Michael Eastham, a barrister who represented Lord Lucan’s mother at the inquest into the death of Sandra Rivett. Based on the book The Gamblers and penned by ITV Studios’ Jeff Pope, Lucan tells the story of Lucan’s exploits as a member of the infamous Clermont set and will focus on the collapse of his marriage to Veronica, the Countess of Lucan. With his marriage disintegrating, Lucan became obsessed with regaining custody of his children. Ultimately the drama will reveal what happened on that fateful night in November 1974 when his children’s nanny, Sandra Rivett, was cruelly bludgeoned to death in the basement of the family’s home in London’s Lower Belgrave Street as she made her way to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. The two-parter is being produced by ITV Studios & GroupM Entertainment and stars Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and Michael Gambon (Harry Potter).
