UKTV has announced that they will hosting their first ever Google+ hangout to mark the launch of Valentine Warner Eats Scandinavia, which is set to premiere on the company’s Good Food channel on Monday September 16th at 8pm.
The Google+ hangout, titled Good Food presents… Valentine Warner’s Scandinavian Supper, will feature Valentine presenting a one hour cookery masterclass. It is also the final stage of a three week social media campaign which will also include an interactive Facebook app, hosting three recipes from the series which viewers can vote on to see cooked live in the hangout. Their vote will be broadcast as a post with the hashtag #EatScandi and will link back to the Good Food website. Here, users can see all the recipes from the show at goodfoodchannel.co.uk/eatscandinavia. By voting, viewers are automatically entered into the draw for the chance to win one of three places in the live cookery class, where they will be taught how to cook their Scandinavian dinner party, by Valentine Warner via the Google + hangout.
“The hangout is a first for the channel and the UKTV network”, said Clare Laycock, General Manager of Good Food. “It’s an innovative way in which to engage with the 27,013 Twitter followers, 28,070 likes on Facebook and the 9,116 Google + followers Good Food has amassed. It is an excellent opportunity for new viewers to find the channel and levy interest in our upcoming series, Valentine Warner Eats Scandinavia.”
While Good Food’s Online Producer, Anna Sbuttoni, added “We’re very excited to be hosting Good Food’s first ever live cookalong with Valentine Warner to launch his new series. It will be a chance to preview Valentine’s recipes from the show and ask him about his experiences as he explored Scandinavia. Scandinavian food is fresh and seasonal, which feels very relevant now. I hope that anyone who is interested in Scandinavian cooking will watch and take part.”
