EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that Rachael Stirling and Georgina Rich have joined the cast of BBC One’s upcoming drama Series The Game.

Stirling’s previous credits include Snow White and the Huntsman and a starring role on ITV’s crime drama series The Bletchley Circle. While Rich’s credits include BBC One’s Sherlock and Public Enemies. Production on the six episode series is currently underway in Birmingham and London, with BBC One eyeing a 2014 premiere. The BBC has yet to announce or confirm any cast members for The Game, however, TVWise previously broke the news that Silk‘s Tom Hughes, Misfits star Shaun Dooley and Lark Rise To Candleford alum Victoria Hamilton have also been cast in the six episode series.

Created by Toby Whithouse, The Game is set during the 1970s and tell the story of the invisible war fought by MI5 to protect the nation from the threats of the Cold War. The series begins just as a KGB defector reveals the existence of a devastating Soviet plot. The charismatic but paranoid head of MI5 then assembles a secret team to investigate. The series, which has received an order for six hour-long episodes, is being produced by BBC Cymru Wales with Faith Penhale, Brian Minchin and Toby Whithouse serving as executive producers. Complicit helmer Niall MacCormick is attached to direct.
