ITV Sets Premiere Date For ‘Vera’ Season 3

The third season of ITV’s drama series Vera will premiere on Sunday August 25th at 8pm, it has been announced.

Based on the series of novels written by Ann Cleeves, Vera follows experienced Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope as she tries to crack some of the toughest cases in Northumberland. Stanhope is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. If she’s lonely she doesn’t show it and faces the world with caustic wit, guile and courage. Her trusted and long-suffering colleague is Joe Ashworth, he is her right-hand man and surrogate son. Together they approach every new case with unparalleled gusto and professionalism. The drama series, which has already been renewed for a fourth season, is produced by ITV Studios and stars Brenda Blethyn, David Leon, Riley Jones, Jon Morrison and Paul Ritter. In the opening episode of the show’s third season, titled Castles In The Air, DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) investigates the brutal murder of young physiotherapist Lizzie Faulkner (Eva Quinn) who was gunned down at a luxury country retreat For D.S Joe Ashworth (David Leon), the case brings him face to face with a part of his past he would rather forget.
