ITV has renewed their drama series Scott & Bailey for a fourth season.
Created by Sally Wainwright and Diane Taylor, Scott & Bailey revolves around two Detective Constables who have been assigned to the Major Incident Team within the (fictional) Manchester metropolitan police force. The drama series is produced by Red Production Company and stars Surrane Jones, Lesley Sharp and Amelia Bullmore. The executive producers are Nicola Shindler and Sally Wainwright.
The renewal comes after Scott & Bailey became one of ITV’s most successful drama series with the season 3 finale pulling in an average audience of 7.1 million viewers and a 27% audience share. The new season, which will be written by Amelia Bullmore, is set to enter production in Manchester next Spring.
“ITV Drama without Scott and Bailey would be unthinkable,” said ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November, who recommissioned the series. “Its reputation for quality storytelling and great characterisation precedes it and it’s become a firm favourite with ITV viewers. We’re delighted to be working with Nicola, Sally and Red Production Company on a fourth series.”
“We’re thrilled to be producing a new series of Scott and Bailey,” said Nicola Shindler. “It’s rewarding to think the public have become so familiar with the characters and taken them to heart. With this new series, we have the chance to explore great story ideas and continue developing those characters.”
