Channel 4 has closed a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the third season of ABC’s comedy series Suburgatory for its E4 channel.
Created by Emily Kapnek, Suburgatory tells the story of George Altman who, after panicking about what effect living in New York City is having on his daughter, packs up and moves to the suburbs. The comedy series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and stars Jeremy Sisto, Jane Levy, Ana Gasteyer, Rex Lee, Carly Chaikin, Allie Grant, Chris Parnell, Alan Tudyk and Cheryl Hines.
The pick up of season three comes as the show’s second season is currently airing on E4. The acquisition is also part of a larger deal that Channel 4 inked with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution which saw the broadcaster acquire the UK rights to CBS’ drama series Hostages and The CW’s The 100 and The Tomorrow People. I hear that, while nothing is set in stone, the third season of Suburgatory will premiere on E4 in Summer 2014.
