Comedy Central UK has announced that they have picked up the rights to The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco, which is being produced for the US Comedy Central channel. The special is set to premiere on Comedy Central UK on Sunday September 8th at 10pm.
The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco is the latest in a long line of roasts for Comedy Central, with previous entries having included roasts of Roseanne Barr, Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump. Seth Rogen, a long-time collaborator of Franco’s, has been selected as the roast master. The 90 minute special is being produced by Tenth Planet Production with Joel Gallen serving as the executive producer.
Speaking at the time that the roast was initially announced, Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s President of Content Development & Original Programming, said: “If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do.”
