TNT has renewed its science-fiction series Falling Skies for a fourth season. The network has ordered 10 episodes for the show’s fourth season which is set to premiere in 2014.
Created by Robert Rodat & produced by Steven Speilberg, Falling Skies tells the extraordinary story about life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. The series centres on Tom Mason, a college professor who becomes an unlikely resistance leader in the fight for freedom. The drama series is produced by DreamWorks Television and stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Colin Cunningham, Sarah Carter, Seychelle Gabriel and Mpho Koaho.
Falling Skies has always been a strong performer for TNT (especially in in the younger demos), with the series’ debut in 2011 ranking as basic cable’s #1 new series of the year. and the show’s second season averaging 5.6 million viewers in Live + 7. The decision to pick up a fourth season after the third season saw some growth in the ratings. Season-to-date Falling Skies has been averaging 5.8 million viewers in live+7, making it basic cable’s #1 scripted series with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 so far this Summer.
