Shannyn Sossamon (Mistresses) has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming event series Wayward Pines as a series regular. Sossamon has been cast as Theresa Burke, Ethan’s wife. The two met when she was still a trainee in the US Secret Service but subsequently left the agency to raise their son Ben.
Based on Blake Crouch’s best-selling novel Pines, Wayward Pines hails from M. Night Shyamalan and follows US Secret Service agent Ethan Burke as he arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. What’s wrong with Wayward Pines? Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive. Based on a spec-script written by Chad Hodge, Wayward Pines is produced by FX Productions with Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line and Ashwin Rajan serving as executive producers.
Sossamon is the latest actor to board Wayward Pines, which is one of two event series that Fox has on tap for 2014 (with the other being 24: Live Another Day). The cast is being led by There’s Something About Mary alum Matt Dillon, who has been cast as Ethan Burke. Other cast members include Melissa Leo (Homicide: Life On The Street) as Nurse Pam, Carla Gugino (Political Animals) as Kate Hewson, Toby Jones (Harry Potter) as Wayward Pines’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Jenkins and Terrence Howard (Law & Order: Los Angeles) as Sheriff Pope.
