ReelzChannel has announced the premiere dates for three upcoming TV mini-series (Cat.8, Delete and Exploding Sun), which were acquired earlier this year as part of a package deal with Sonar Entertainment. Up first is Cat. 8 which premieres on Monday July 22nd at 8/7c. Delete follows on Monday August 19th at 8/7c. While Exploding Sun is the last to premiere on Monday September 9th at 8/7c.

Created by Donald Martin, Cat 8 follows Michael Mitchell, a government outsider and renegade scientist, who is called upon to reverse a cataclysmic disaster when a breakthrough in global defense backfires. The result is a fireball four times the size of Earth streaking toward our planet. With mere hours before the atmosphere ignites can he reverse this cataclysmic disaster in time? The mini stars Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises, Weeds), Maxim Roy (ReGenesis) and Ted Whittall (Smallville).

From an original screenplay by Stargate‘s Joseph Mallozi and Paul Mulle, Delete tells the story of a terrorist threat that goes viral, plunging the world into chaos and pitting it against an enemy that was never anticipated. A terrorist group known as Dubito is suspected of uploading a virus that causes a meltdown at a nuclear power plant. The virus goes worldwide causing computers to become dangerously self-aware with one systematic purpose; to destroy mankind. Faced with possible extinction, there is only one way out: to create a second artificial intelligence, just as alive, just as intelligent and just as dangerous. The four hour mini is directed by Steve Barron (Merlin) and stars Seth Green (Family Guy), Keir Gilchrist (United States of Tara), Matt Frewer (Falling Skies), Janet Kidder (The Killing), Erin Karpluk (Being Erica), Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal) and Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary).

Penned by Jeff Schecter (Strange Days at Blake Holsey High), Exploding Sun tells the story of what happens when the first ever commercial space shuttle is struck by a solar storm. The disaster hyper-charges the engine and catapults the ship on a direct course for the sun. But the danger becomes more universal when it’s discovered the event will trigger an infinitely larger solar storm that could send Earth back into the Stone Age. The mini stars David James Elliott (JAG), Anthony Lemke (Blue Mountain State), Natalie Brown (Being Human) and Julia Ormond (Temple Grandin).
