Fox International Channels (FIC) has promoted Jo McGrath to the position of Head of Production for Europe & Africa. The promotion comes after McGrath, who was previously Head of Features and Daytime at Channel 4, has spent the past few months developing 50 hours of original content for FIC’s international channel 24 Kitchen. That effort was part of FIC’s desire to produce more original content for its channels across Europe and Africa.
In her new role she will be responsible for all production activity across FIC Europe’s entertainment and lifestyle brands. McGrath will assume her new role immediately and will be based in the London office, where she will report to Jason Thorp, FIC’s Executive Vice-President of Content for Europe & Managing Director of UK and Africa. Nicole Streak, Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment for FIC Europe will report to McGrath and FIC said that other supporting roles would be announced in due course.
“I am thrilled to be part of FIC Europe & Africa at such an exciting time in the company’s development”, said Jo McGrath. “We’ve got a great team and editorially we want to take risks. We need entertaining returnable series which genuinely feel different and have a sense of humour. Whether it’s talent, tone, or subject matter, we want our shows to stand out from the crowd.”
While Jason Thorp, FIC’s Executive Vice-President of Content for Europe & Managing Director of UK and Africa, added: “Jo’s knowledge, experience and reputation across the business will prove invaluable as we strive to become a credible player in content production, creating and owning returnable and marketable series for our channels across Europe.”
