Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Simon Russell Beale (The Hollow Crown) and Olivia Grant (Strike Back) have joined the cast of BBC Two’s upcoming 90 minute cold war spy drama Legacy.
Scott has been cast as Soviet diplomat Viktor Koslov, who has been working in London and, MI6 believes, may be a valuable intelligence asset; Russell Beale has been cast as Hookey and Grant as Eva. The casting news comes after TVWise previously broke the news that the drama will star Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire), Tessa Peake-Jones (Only Fools And Horses), Christian McKay (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Romola Garai (The Hour).
Based on the Alan Judd novel of the same name and developed for television by The Politician’s Husband scribe Paula Milne, Legacy has been described as a gripping espionage thriller set during the height of the Cold War in 1970s London, The drama follows Charles Thoroughgood, who discovers the disturbing truth about his father’s complex past. Fresh out of the army, Charles has barely begun his training in Britain’s secret intelligence service, MI6, when his university association with a Soviet diplomat lands him on a case. The drama is being produced by Slim Film & Television with Lucy Richer, Simon Crawford Collins, Paula Milne and Alan Judd serving as executive producers. Dredd helmer Pete Travis is attached to direct. BBC Worldwide is handling international distribution.
