EXCLUSIVE: BBC Two and Slim Film & Television have found another cast member for their upcoming 90 minute spy drama Legacy. I’ve just learned that Tessa Peake-Jones has joined the cast of the drama and while exact character details are being kept under wraps, sources tell me that is a “major role.” Tessa Peake-Jones, repped by Independent Talent, is best known for her starring role on Only Fools And Horses and has more recently starred in ITV’s Marchlands and BBC One’s Holby City.
Based on the Alan Judd novel of the same name and developed for television by The Politician’s Husband scribe Paula Milne, Legacy has been described as a gripping espionage thriller set during the height of the Cold War in 1970s London, The drama follows Charles Thoroughgood, a recent MI6 recruit who discovers the disturbing truth about his father’s complex past. The drama, which is the first commission for the indie, is being produced by Slim Film & Television with Lucy Richer, Simon Crawford Collins, Paula Milne and Alan Judd serving as executive producers. Dredd helmer Pete Travis is attached to direct. BBC Worldwide is handling international distribution.
The BBC has yet to announce any cast members for the drama, however, TVWise previously broke the news that Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) has been cast in the leading role of Charles Thoroughgood. A source tells me that production on Legacy is about to get underway, with the first table-read scheduled for next week. I’m waiting for confirmation on additional cast members and will update when I hear more.
