EXCLUSIVE: ITV’s period drama series The Bletchley Circle is adding another series regular to its roster for its upcoming second season. I’ve learned that young actress Faye Marsay has joined the series as a new lead, she joins Hattie Morahan (Eternal Law) who has also been added to the series as a regular for its 4 episode second season. Marsay, repped by Curtis Brown, is a relative newcomer with her only major TV credit being a leading role on the BBC One/Starz period drama The White Queen.
Created by Guy Burt, The Bletchley Circle is set in the 1950’s and follows a group of women who worked as codebreakers at Bletchley Park during the second world war and, having now returned to civilian life, find themselves investigating murder cases which have the police stymied. The drama series is produced by World Productions and stars Anna Maxwell Martin, Rachael Stirling and Sophie Rundle. The executive producers is Jake Lushington. The second season of The Bletchley Circle, which will feature the introduction of new character Alice Merren (Hattie Morahan), is slated to air on ITV later this year. PBS will also air the show’s second season in the United States, with the public broadcaster eyeing a 2014 premiere.
