EXCLUSIVE: Being Human creator Toby Whithouse’s new drama series The Game has found its director. I’ve learned that BAFTA nominee Niall MacCormick has signed on to helm the six episode Cold War drama series. MacCormick’s previous credits include Channel 4’s Complicit, feature film Albatross and BBC One’s Wallander. I understand that casting on the drama series is now winding down, with the BBC aiming to begin principal photography on The Game this August.

Created by Toby Whithouse, The Game is set during the 1970′s at the height of the Cold War. The series begins just as a KGB defector reveals the existence of a devastating Soviet plot. The charismatic but paranoid head of MI5 then assembles a secret team to investigate. The series, which has received an order for six hour-long episodes, is being produced by BBC Cymru Wales with Faith Penhale, Brian Minchin and Toby Whithouse serving as executive producers.
