Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has appointed former NBC drama executive Lourdes Diaz as Vice President, Development and Production for Comedy Central International. Diaz will split her time between the US & the UK and will report to Jill Offman, Managing Director of Comedy Central UK and Senior Vice President of International Content for Comedy Central. In her new role, Diaz will focus on developing and commissioning scripted content for VIMN’s network of Comedy channels and websites outside the US, including Comedy Central UK.

“Comedy Central has been growing significantly outside the U.S. over the past few years, as VIMN has delivered on increasing the network’s presence around the world and growing its distribution, brand profile and ratings in key territories”, said Jill Offman, Managing Director of Comedy Central UK and Senior Vice President of International Content for Comedy Central. “This international approach to commissioning comedy content is a reflection of that success. By adding Lourdes’ track record and comic sensibility to our team, we aim to strengthen relationships with key producers in both North America and the UK, and offer more content to our audiences across our expanding number of Comedy platforms around the world.”

In addition to the appointment of Lourdes Diaz, Viacom International Media Networks today also announced that they have green-lit a new sitcom pilot for Comedy Central UK and Comedy Central International. The comedy, titled Mummy’s Boys, tells the story of three young men thrust into a world of independence when their mother dies suddenly. Big Talk Productions is producing the pilot with Caroline Leddy serving as the producer. Emerging British comic Jonny Flynn is attached to star. Production on Mummy’s Boys is slated to commence this July in London in front of a live studio audience.
