EXCLUSIVE: Channel 4 has ordered a 60 minute docudrama titled Blackout, which will explore what would happen if the national grid suddenly stopped working. Production on the drama is currently underway at Wimbledon Studios, with Channel 4 eyeing an Autumn premiere.
Blackout is presented as a documentary which explores the chaos that ensued in the first days after the national grid was destroyed in a terrorist attack on November 18th 2013. It was during this time that there was a complete breakdown of law and order and the country descended into anarchy. Raw TV is producing the docudrama, with Bart Layton serving as the executive producer. Ben Chanan is directing. This piece also reunites director Ben Chanan and Raw TV. The two previously teamed for the documentary The Plot To Bring Down Britain’s Planes, which documented the timeline of events of the 2006 trans-atlantic aircraft plot, when a group of 24 radicalised men plotted to detonate explosives on at least 10 passenger jets as they travelled from the UK to the US and Canada.
