Blinkbox has announced a deal which will allow the Tesco owned video-on-demand service to offer the third season of HBO’s Game of Thrones from July 15th, when customers of the service will be available to buy either individual episodes or the entire 10 episode season.

Blinkbox will be the first digital retailer to offer the third season of Game of Thrones to UK viewers who may not have seen the series on Sky Atlantic and comes months before the home video release is scheduled to hit stores. TVWise has also learned that blinkbox will be launching HD for the first time with Game of Thrones season 3, and the show’s preceding two seasons will also be available in HD as well as SD.

The drama series stars Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Iain Glen, Michelle Fairley, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Charles Dance, Liam Cunningham, Stephen Dillane, Carice van Houten, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson, Alfie Allen, John Bradley. Rory McCann, Conleth Hill, Gwendoline Christie, Oona Chaplin, Sibel Kekilli, Rose Leslie, James Cosmo and Jerome Flynn.

“Game of Thrones is the TV show of the moment and we expect demand for the third series to be high”, said Michael Comish, CEO of blinkbox. “Whether you have heard about the series recently thanks to the buzz around season 3 or have enjoyed the first two episodes but don’t have a Sky subscription, blinkbox is the place to enjoy this gripping series.”

While Colin Smith, Director of International Digital Distribution for HBO added: “We are thrilled to offer Game of Thrones season 3 via blinkbox for those in the UK who haven’t had the opportunity to see it.”
