The CW is the last of the five broadcast networks to announce their fall 2013-2014 schedule. There is a fair amount of movement this year, with Hart of Dixie, Beauty and the Beast, The Carrie Diaries and Supernatural moving to new time-slots. Of the network’s five new drama series, only 3 will premiere this fall, while the remaining two will air mid-season, as will the fourth and final season of Nikita (which the network has now confirmed will comprise of merely 6 episodes).
Both Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie are on the move to Monday nights, where Hart of Dixie will kick things off at 8pm and lead into Beauty and the Beast at 9pm. Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals is getting the Tuesday night 8pm time-slot, leading into Supernatural‘s new time-slot at 9pm. Arrow is staying put on Wednesdays at 8pm and will be used to launch freshman series The Tomorrow People, which has been given the Wednesday night 9pm time-slot.
The Vampire Diaries is the only other show (besides Arrow) which is staying put in its current time-slot on Thursdays at 8pm. The series, which is one of The CW’s strongest performers, will lead into freshman drama series Reign. While The Carrie Diaries is assuming the Friday night 8pm time-slot, which was occupied by Nikita this season. The six episode final season of Nikita, The 100 and Star Crossed are all slated to premiere mid-season.
