CBS Renews ‘Criminal Minds’ For Season 9

CBS has just announced that they have renewed long running drama series Criminal Minds for a ninth season.

The series joins a large roster of returning series at the network, including 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Blue Bloods, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Elementary, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, How I Met Your Mother, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest and Two And A Half Men.

Created by Jeff Davis, Criminal Minds revolves around the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit whom roam the United States to assist local law enformcement track down serial killers and other serious criminal offenders. The drama series is produced by CBS Television Studios & ABC Studios and stars Thomas Gibson. Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A. J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Joe Mantegna and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

The renewal comes after difficult negotiations with showrunner Erica Messer and several members of the main cast. Following Messer’s deal, which was reached last week, Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna, Shemar Moore, A. J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness have also signed two year contract extensions, saving CBS from having to go through this again until the 2015-2016 season.
