VeraITV has ordered a fourth season of ITV’s drama series Vera, set to air in 2014. The series has been renewed for a further four episodes, with the renewal coming ahead of the show’s third season premiere this Summer.

Vera is based on the series of novels written by Ann Cleeves and follows experienced Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope as she tries to crack some of the toughest cases in Northumberland. Stanhope is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. If she’s lonely she doesn’t show it and faces the world with caustic wit, guile and courage. The drama series is produced by ITV Studios and stars Brenda Blethyn and David Leon. Thaddeus O’Sullivan and Will Sinclair are set to direct the new episodes.
