Archive Channel 5 Acquires UK Rights To Irish Gang Drama Series ‘Love/Hate’ – TVWise

Channel 5 has closed a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment to acquire seasons 1 and 2 of RTE’s drama series Love/Hate. The acquisition follows yesterday’s deal with One Three Media for History’s mini-series The Bible. Channel 5 plans to air both seasons of the show in an unbroken run of ten episodes later this year.
Created by Stuart Carolan, Love/Hate picks up as a catastrophic event ignites the tensions in a small-time drug gang and family, friends & the community must live with the impact. The show’s first season consists of four episodes, and the second of six. Love/Hate stars Aidan Gillen, Robert Sheehan, Ruth Bradley, Ruth Negga and Brian Gleeson.
Speaking of the deal, Jayne Redpath, Senior Vice President of EMEA, for ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “Love/Hate is a powerful drama that received rave reviews and phenomenal ratings when it aired on RTÉ. This deal will bring new audiences to the series and I am sure it will be just as successful when it launches on Channel 5 in the UK.”
While Marie-Claire Dunlop, Channel 5’s Acquisitions & Channel Manager, added: “Love/Hate is a really dynamic, engaging addition to our schedules. We’re sure that British audiences will take to this gripping drama just like Irish viewers have.”
