BBC Two has given the green-light to House of Fools, a new studio sitcom from Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. The series, which has been given an order for six episodes, is slated to premiere in 2014.

House of Fools is set in Bob’s grubby flat which he unwillingly shares with Vic and a constant stream of unwanted visitors, including lady-obsessed lothario Beef and Geordie ex-con Bosh. Hidden away upstairs is Erik, Bob’s sulky son and lurking next door is man-eater Julie. The comedy series is produced by BBC In-house Comedy production in association with Pett Productions and stars Reeves, Mortimer, Matt Berry, Dan Skinner, Morgana Robinson and Daniel Simonsen. The executive producer is Mark Freeland.

Speaking of their new sitcom, Vic and Bob said: “We’re back where we belong and over the moon about making a series of House Of Fools for the BBC”.

Shane Allen, the BBC’s Controller of Comedy Commissioning, commented: “Vic and Bob are the daddies of daft comedy and it’s a total joy to watch two men in their 50s goof about so gloriously. I’m extremely proud to bring them back to the BBC in this hilarious reincarnation.

While Janice Hadlow, Controller of BBC Two, added: “I’m delighted to be welcoming Vic and Bob back to BBC Two, bringing their unique blend of energy and brilliant comedy to the channel.”
