“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW. “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”
Given the relative ratings performance of the series this season, a cancellation had been considered extremely likely. A recent episode of 90210 pulled in a mere 0.58 million viewers, shedding nearly 40% of its lead in audience from freshman series The Carrie Diaries. While it’s still early days for the remaining bubble shows at the network, the latest buzz is that Cult will be cancelled (a move which has already been indicated by relocating the series to Friday nights), Nikita and Hart of Dixie are on track for renewals, while word is that either one or both of The Carrie Diaries and Beauty and the Beast will be cancelled by the time of the upfronts this May.
