PBS America Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘Einstein’s Big Idea’

PBS America will air docu-drama Einstein’s Big Idea on Wednesday May 1st at 7:50 pm, with the two-parter concluding the following day in the same time-slot.

Einstein’s Big Idea is based on David Bodanis’ book E=mc2: A Biography of the World’s Most Famous Equation and was adapted for PBS’ Nova strand by Gary Johnstone, who also directed the project. The film is narrated bo John Lithgow and dramatises the events that lead up to Albert Einstein’s discovery of his famous equation E=mc2. The relationship between mass and energy forms the basis of the great scientist’s special theory of relativity, published in 1905. Einstein’s Big Idead explains the significance of Einstein’s breakthrough and examines the discoveries made by his predecessors that made it possible. The film features an all star cast which includes Aidan McArdle as Einstein, Shirley Henderson as his wife Mileva, Julian Rhind-Tutt as Antoine Lavoisier, Anton Lesser as Voltaire, Helene de Fourgerole as Madame du Chatelet, Steven Robertson as Michael Faraday, Sam West as Humphrey Davy and Emily Woof as Lisa Meitner.
