Nadine Velazquez Joins TNT’s ‘Major Crimes’ As Series Regular

Nadine Velazquez (My Name Is Earl) has joined the cast of TNT’s Major Crimes as a series regular for its 15 episode second season, TVWise has learned.

Velazquez will play Deputy District Attorney Emma Rios. Newly assigned to the Phillip Stroh case, Emma interviews Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) about his involvement as a key witness in the murder case. She immediately causes a stir within the department, coming into conflict with Captain Raydor (Mary McDonnell) when she questions Raydor’s intentions as Rusty’s guardian and challenges her authority.

A spin-off of TNT’s long running series The Closer, Major Crimes was created by James Duff and follows the Major Crimes unit of the LAPD following the departure of commanding officer Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson. With Johnson gone, the team must learn to adapt when Captain Raydor is transferred in from Internal Affairs to run the unit. The drama series is produced by Warner Horizon Television and stars Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Kearran Giovanni and Graham Patrick Martin, Robert Gossett and Jonathan Del Arco with Jon Tenney appearing as a recurring guest star.
