New indie distributor DLT/Raydar Rights LLP has taken international distribution rights to BBC One’s drama Our Girl and will shop the 90 minute film to international buyers at MIPTV. The distributor was formed through the merger of DLT Entertainment Ltd & rights management company Raydar Media and was announced at MIPCOM last year.

Penned by Tony Grounds, Our Girl tells the story of Molly Dawes (Lacey Turner), the eldest of five kids with little future, a difficult father and a mother who always wanted more for her.  Born and raised in the London Borough of Newham, she leaves school with no qualifications and finds a part-time job in a local nail bar. Drunk and despondent on the evening of her 18th birthday, she throws up in the doorway of an Army Recruitment Office. She doesn’t know it then, but it’s an action that will change her life forever as she goes from nobody to a soldier in the Royal Army Medical Corps, and the onto her final arrival in Afghanistan. In addition to Turner, Matthew McNulty, Fiona Skinner, Lucy Briers, Branwell Donaghey and Harriet Madeley also star. The 90 minute one-off was produced by BBC Drama Production with David Drury directing and John Yorke serving as executive producer. The drama aired on BBC One last week to rave reviews and 5.3 million total viewers, slightly above the average for the time-slot.

Our Girl is part of a larger slate that the distributor will be showcasing in Cannes. Other titles include drama series Reservoir Hill and romantic comedy Girl Vs Boy, both from leading New Zealand independent producer KH; gameshow format Talkabout and award winning comedy series My Family will also be on offer as a global scripted format. DLT Entertainment’s US office is handling the finished programme sales for DLT/Raydar.
