UKTVUKTV has promoted Steve Hornby (not to be confused with Steve Hornsey, General Manager of UKTV’s Alibi and Watch channels) to the newly created position of Head of Digital and Social Media.

In his new position Hornby will head a newly created team whose purpose is to advance the company’s digital innovation strategy (which has included re-designing the website for its Eden channel) and he will be responsible for editorial across all of UKTV’s digital and social media platforms. Hornby will report to Emma Tennant (Controller of UKTV) and Simon Michaelides (UKTV’s Marketing Director). Hornby joined UKTV in 2012 as Senior Digital Producer and came to the company from the BBC. He has also previously held digital media roles with Sky and Flextech. He takes up his new post immediately and is currently recruiting for a Digital and Social Media Manager to join his team.

“This role has been created to sit across both editorial and marketing to ensure that we have a cohesive approach to digital and social media and maximise opportunities across the network”, said Emma Tennant, Controller of UKTV.  “Steve has proved that he has the vision and leadership to drive UKTV’s digital and social media output and we are delighted to have him in the role.”

Steve Hornby added: “I am very excited about the year ahead. The project to refresh all of the current channel websites is well underway and puts social media at their heart. The new responsive designs will allow us to drive our commercial and creative ambitions by exploring new content, social and second screen experiences reflecting the quality of UKTV’s upcoming programming.”
