I hear that this project is titled Good News, Bad News and that a not-for-broadcast pilot is due to be shot next week. One source tells me that Good News, Bad News is being developed for ITV, but I have been unable to confirm that. Another insider has descibed the project as “part Mock The Week and part Have I Got News For You” – which is produced by Hat Trick for the BBC – and will see Manford hosting as a number of guests from the comedy world look at the weeks events and have to make a call as to whether it is either good or bad news.
The pilot commission for Bad News, Good News comes as business is booming Hat Trick Productions – whose previous hits include Father Ted and Drop The Donkey. The indie has received commissions on both the drama and comedy fronts in recent months: working on The Suspicions Of Mr Whicher II for ITV and a full series of Nixon’s The One for Sky Arts; and a second season of the The Revolution Will Be Televised for BBC Three & the new season of Outnumbered for BBC One. The production company is also co-producing the pilot of ABC’s remake of its hit Sky1 series Spy and just earlier this week was commissioned to produce a six episode sitcom for UKTV’s Gold channel titled Us and Them.
