UPDATE, March 26th: UKTV has announced that episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys will begin airing on Gold on Wednesday May 1st at 9pm, and will then continue to air weekly in the Wednesday 9pm time-slot.
PREVIOUS, February 19th: UKTV’s Gold channel – which just today ordered a new comedy series titled Us and Them – is adding hit comedy series Mrs Brown’s Boys to its lineup, TVWise has learned. The show is set to begin airing on Gold this May.
Created by Brendan O’Carroll, Mrs Brown’s Boys follows foul-mouthed Irish matriach Agnes Brown as she interferes in the lives of her children and friends. The comedy series, which is produced by BBC Scotland/BBC Productions and BOCPIX in association with RTE, stars Brendan O’Carroll, Jennifer Gibney, Fiona O’Carroll, Danny O’Carroll and Eilish O’Carroll. The show’s third season recently finished airing on BBC One and averaged over 14 million total viewers across various platforms. While the series has yet to be picked up for a fourth season, a further two Christmas specials have been ordered to air in 2013. The two specials were ordered in lieu of a fourth season as series creator and star Brendan O’Caroll has been unable to commit to a fourth season of the series as he is currently working on a feature film adaptation of Mrs Brown’s Boys, which is set to enter production later this year. Word is that BBC One controller Danny Cohen is keen to see a fourth season of the series and fully expects to commission it by the end of the year. However, production would likely not commence until 2014 to accomodate O’Carroll’s other commitments.
