Anjelah N. Johnson has joined the cast of NBC’s About A Boy adaptation, TVWise has learned.
Based on the Nick Hornby book and the 2002 feature film, About A Boy is a single-camera comedy which is being penned by Parenthood‘s Jason Katims. The comedy follows the relationship between a bachelor man-child named Will (David Walton) and the young boy who moves in next door with his kooky single mother Fiona (Winnie Driver). Universal Television, True Jack Productions, Working Title Productions and Tribeca Productions are producing, with Jason Katims, and Michelle Lee serving as executive producers. Jon Favreau is directing.
Johnson has been cast as Laurie, a well-meaning yet overbearing mother of three and the wife of Will’s best friend. Johnson, repped by Gersh, is best known for her role on MadTV. Her previous credits include Ugly Betty and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
