Syfy UK Picks Up Rights To ‘Alphas’ Season 2
EXCLUSIVE: Syfy UK has closed a deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution to pick up the Pay TV rights to the second season of Alphas. Syfy UK previously aired the show’s first season following its broadcast on 5*, who hold the first run rights to the series in the UK and aired the second season of Alphas late last year. I hear that season 2 of Alphas is set to premiere on Syfy UK in either February or March.
Created by Michael Karnow and Zak Penn, follows a group of humans with superhuman abilities, known as Alphas, who work for Dr Lee Rosen at the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) where they track down other Alphas who may pose a threat to themselves and others. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the drama series stars David Strathairn, Ryan Cartwright, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Laura Mennell, Malik Yoba and Erin Way.
The show’s second season picks up eight months after last year’s finale with the stage set for an explosive turn of events at the Binghamton facility (the Guantanamo of the Alpha world) that could have devastating, far-reaching consequences. Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), having exposed the existence of Alphas to the unsuspecting public, finds himself discredited and imprisoned by a government desperate to cover up his revelation. The rest of the core team has disbanded and some, without Rosen’s guidance and care, have regressed to their old, destructive ways. They must now battle their individual demons in order to reunite and try to save their own.

Syfy haven’t made a decision on it yet even though the second season finish in the US in October on a cliffhanger.
In a sea of so-so soft sci-fi on SyFy, Alphas stands out as not just an excellent sci-fi program, but an excellent show.

Has season 3 been given the go ahead or has it been cancelled? Last I looked just before Xmas no one had made a decision.
