Showtime has handed renewals to three of its original series: Californication, House of Lies and Shameless. All three shows will return in 2014, Californication for its seventh season, House of Lies for its third and Shameless for its fourth. Production on the new seasons of all three shows is set to commence later this year.
“Californication, House of Lies and Shameless possess highly distinctive comedic voices, and given that all three continue to grow their audience season after season – the pick-up decision was easy,” said David Nevins, Showtime’s President of Entertainment. “I am incredibly excited to see what each of these series has in store for their next seasons.”
Californication, House of Lies and Shameless have been strong performers for Showtime, with all three posting gains year-on-year. The sixth season of Californication has been averaging 3.1 million viewers, across multiple platforms, up some 21% compared to season five. The sophomore season of comedy series House of Lies is averaging 3.2 million viewers, up 10% on last season. Finally, the third season of Shameless has been averaging 5.4 million viewers, up 22% on season two and 63% on season one.
