UKTV has closed a multi-season deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure for its Watch channel. This is the latest content deal inked by UKTV in recent months to strengthen Watch’s first run line-up for 2013. Previous deals includes the acquisiton of NBC’s mid-season drama series Do No Harm and The CW’s Beauty and the Beast. In addition, Watch has also renewed its ratings hit Dynamo: Magician Impossible for a four episode third season and a new series following daredevil Jonathan Goodwin, tentatively titled The Jonathan Goodwin Project.

Haunted Highway puts the pedal to the metal as Jack Osbourne and Dana Workman investigate the most frightening claims of paranormal activity along America’s remote back roads. Fueled by eyewitness interviews and evidence collected by state-of-the-art equipment, Jack and Dana will travel alone, self-documenting their harrowing road trip while coming face-to-face with paranormal legends. The show’s first season consists of six episodes.

Haunted Collector  features eminent paranormal collector John Zaffis, who searches for objects that have become home to paranormal spirits and/or energy. Each week Zaffis and his family help someone who’s terrorized by something strange in their own home, using the latest technology to identify the source of the paranormal activity.

Hollywood Treasure delves into the intricate world of collecting of showbiz and pop culture memorabilia, including science fiction and fantasy props and costumes. The series follows Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and the world’s largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles. Each episode follows Joe and his crew as they travel the globe searching for the most compelling, rare, and sought-after Hollywood memorabilia. Sometimes combing through basements and attics to uncover lost Hollywood treasure, and other times meeting with celebrities to view their personal keepsakes, Joe tracks leads and does whatever it takes to seal the deal for a piece of Hollywood history.

Speaking of the acquisition of all three reality series, Steve Hornsey, General Manager of Watch, said “Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure complements Watch’s strong line-up of ‘out of the ordinary’ programming in 2013, which already includes Beauty and the Beast, The Jonathan Goodwin project (title TBC), Primeval: New World and the third season of Dynamo. Watch really is the must-have entertainment channel for fans of edgy and extraordinary programming. ”

While UKTV’s Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, Alexandra Finlay, who brokered the deal, commented: “We are delighted to have made this volume deal with NBCUniversal for Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure. These new programmes fit perfectly within Watch’s remit to provide new content with a distinctive twist.”
