The second season of Sky1’s home-grown series Stella will premiere on Friday January 11th at 9pm, it has been announced. The series has already been renewed for a third season and Sky1 has ordered a Christmas special, which is set to air in 2013 ahead of season 3.
Stella was co-created by, and stars, Ruth Jones as the titular character and revolves around her often troubled life in Pontyberry, South Wales. The down-to-earth family saga which gives an authentic slice of the working-class Welsh Valleys debuted as the second biggest UK comedy launch in multichannel history. Also starring in the comedy series is Craig Gallivan, Catrin Stewart, Rory Girvan, Justin Davies, Elizabeth Berrington, Owen Teale, Julian Lewis Jones, Karen Paullada, Steve Speirs, Paul Kaye, Kenny Doughty and Mark Lewis Jones.
In the show’s second season, with Sean excited at the prospect of becoming a dad and Rob’s new business dealings taking him back to Pontyberry from Canada, it certainly seems like there’s a bumpy road ahead. Elsewhere, problems appear to be brewing between the usually adventurous Dai (Owen Teale) and Paula (Elizabeth Berrington) when Dai starts work at Paula’s funeral home and doesn’t quite measure up to her exacting standards. Life isn’t too kind to lollipop man Alan (Steve Speirs) either and he’s devastated to learn his crossing is to be replaced with traffic lights. Plus, Karl (Julian Lewis Jones) and Nadine (Karen Paullada) prepare for the opening of their new salon and Aunty Brenda (Di Botcher) arrives in Pontyberry following a house swap with Stella’s parents, who are now living in Tenerife.
