The ten episode second season of AMC’s acclaimed western drama series Hell On Wheels is set to receive it UK premiere on TCM on Sunday January 6th at 9pm with a double-bill, TVWise has learned. Hell On Wheels was recently renewed for a third season of ten episodes, however, that renewal is currently on hold until such time as AMC and series producers Endemol, eOne and Nomadic Pictures agree on a new showrunner, following the departure of John Shiban earlier this month.

Hell On Wheels revolves around Cullen Bohannon, a former confederate soldier who travels west to the construction site of the first transcontinental rail road. However, Bohannon’s journey is not that of a former soldier looking for work. He is on a mission to avenge the death of his wife and son who were murdered by Union soldiers, whom he has tracked to the construction of Union Pacific’s railroad. The drama series stars Anson Mount, Common, Colm Meaney, Dominique McElligott, Tom Noonan, Ediie Spears, Ben Ester and Phil Burke. In the opening episode of season 2, titled Viva la Mexico, Cullen has to adjust to life after Hell On Wheels, while Durant dispatches Elam to deal with a posse robbing his payroll. Airing after Viva la Mexico, is the second episode of the season, titled Durant, Nebaraska, in which Durant must confront a dangerous threat to Hell on Wheels and a horrible crime forces Lily and Elam to strike up a deal to ensure justice.
