ReelzChannel is sticking with the Canadian war effort. The network has announced that they have picked up the exclusive US rights to the 12 episode second season of Bomb Girls from Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Films. The move to pick up the second season of the World War II drama series comes shortly after the successful launch of the series on Reelz back in September. The show’s second season, which picks up just after the attack on Pearl Harbour, features special guest star Rosie O’Donnell (The Rosie O’Donnell Show) and is set to premiere on ReelzChannel in Spring 2013.
Created by Michael MacLennan & Adrienne Mitchell and produced by Muse Entertainment, Bomb Girls takes place during World War II and captures a period when society was experiencing fundamental changes in the workplace and at home. At the heart of Bomb Girls are the stories of women who risk their lives in a munitions factory in support of the European front. Liberated from social and cultural restrictions, they embraced their newfound freedom, changing their lives—and the world around them—forever. The drama series stars Meg Tilly (Agnes of God), Jodi Balfour (The Sinking of Laconia), Sebastian Pigott (Being Erica) and multiple Gemini Award-nominee Peter Outerbridge (Nikita).
Speaking of the pick up, Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of ReelzChannel, said: “Based on the enthusiastic response to Bomb Girls from our viewers, we’re thrilled to partner with Global TV, Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Film Productions for a second season with 12 new episodes. The second season is full of surprises, including one episode with guest star Rosie O’Donnell.”
