Channel 4 has announced that World Without End – the sequel to mini-series Pillars of the Earth – will premiere early next year. The 8 part mini has already aired on Showcase in Canada and ReelzChannel in the United States.
Set 200 years after Pillars of the Earth, the mini-series picks up with a new cast of characters, including Caris, a feisty young woman who inspires her medieval town of Kingsbridge to confront the most powerful forces of her time, namely the Church and the Crown, as they fight to save their town from ruin and, ultimately, usher in a new era of freedom, innovation, and enlightenment. The mini-series features an exceptional cast including Cynthia Nixon (Sex & The City), Peter Firth (Spooks), Ben Chaplin (Dorian Gray), Charlotte Riley (The Take), Rupert Evans (The Little House), Tom Weston-Jones (Spooks) and Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter). World Without End was produced by Tandem Communications, Take 5 Productions and Galafilm and directed by Michael Caton-Jones. The executive producers are Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Rola Bauer, David W. Zucker, Tim Halkin, John Weber and Jonas Bauer.
