Syfy has closed a deal with Entertainment One (eOne) to acquire the upcoming Canadian science-fiction series Primeval: New World. The show’s 13 episode first season is set to premiere on Syfy in 2013 alongside the network’s other recent acquisition Sinbad.
Primeval: New World is based on the UK series Primeval was created by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens and will be written by Gillian Horvath, Peter Hume, Jon Cooksey, Sarah Dodd, Katherine Collins and Judith and Garfield Reeve-Steven. The drama series follows a specialized team of animal experts and scientists that investigates the appearance of temporal anomalies and battles both prehistoric and futuristic creatures. Primeval: New World is produced by Omni Films and Impossible Pictures and stars Niall Matter (Eureka), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Miranda Frigon (Heartland), Geoff Gustafson (Hot Tub Time Machine) and Danny Rahim (Eastenders).
