Sky1 & Cinemax have renewed action series Strike Back for another season of ten episodes, which is set to air in 2013. This new season will be the fourth for Sky1 and the third for Cinemax.

Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Ryan, Strike Back follows the exploits of Section 20, an elite counterterrorism unit as it spans the globe to stop potential threats, often behind enemy lines. The drama series is produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with BSkyB & HBO/Cinemax and stars Phillip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton, Rhashan Stone and Michelle Lukes. Joining the cast for its third season is Charles Dance as Conrad Knox, and Rhona Mitra (Boston Legal) as Rachel Dalton, the new CO of Section 20.

The new season of Strike Back will again be produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with HBO/Cinemax and BSkyB and will shoot on location in South Africa and Hungary. Returning for this new season is Left Bank’s Andy Harries as executive producer, series producer Michael Casey and head of production Marigo Kehoe, director Michael Bassett (“Silent Hill: Revelation 3D”) and writers Simon Burke (“Persuasion”), James Dormer (“MI-5”) and Richard Zajdlic (“EastEnders”). Also returning are the show’s confidential consultants, who work in the field of counterterrorism. Their expertise is a resource for story, lingo, procedure, accuracy, character development and regional issues, providing a look inside the highly secretive black ops world. They also train the cast in battle tactics, weapons and fighting, as the lead actors do most of their own stunts. Cinemax & Sky declined to confirm the returning cast members for the new season citing “plot spoilers in upcoming episodes of season two.”
