Nell Tiger Free has been cast as Chloe, a young girl who befriends Mr Stink; Isabella Blake-Thomas will portray Annabelle, Chloe’s perfect younger sister; while Sheridan Smith and Johnny Vegas have been cast as the mother and father of both Close and Annabelle. They join previously announced cast members Hugh Bonneville and Harish Patel.
Based on David Walliams’ novel of the same name, Mr Stink is a one hour TV movie which follows Mr Stink, a local tramp who is befriended by a young girl named Chloe. Chloe sees Mr Stink every day, but she’s never spoken to him, which isn’t surprising, because he’s a tramp, and he stinks – hence his name. When it looks like Mr Stink may be run out of town, Chloe hides him in her garden shed. As Chloe struggles to make sure no one sniffs out Mr Stink, and her dad tries to hide a secret of his own, the stage is set for an epic family confrontation. There is also one other person with an extraordinary secret, as it turns out that there is more to Mr Stink than meets the eye. The script was written by Walliams & Simon Nye and the movie is being produced by BBC In-House Comedy Productions in association with David Walliams’ production company DEW Productions. Mark Freeland, Head of BBC Comedy, is serving as executive producer and Declan Lowney is on-board as director.
