EXCLUSIVE: And in what I expect to be the final piece of casting news for BBC Three’s Bluestone 42, I can reveal that Katie Lyons (The Crimson Petal and the White) has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming military comedy series. The show, which was recently picked up to series by BBC Three with an eight episode order, is currently in production in South Africa. Other series regulars on Bluestone 42 are Scott Hoatson (Case Histories), Stephen Wight (Threesome), Tony Gardner (Fresh Meat), Kelly Adams (Hustle) and Oliver Chris (Green Wing).
Bluestone 42 (pronounced bluestone four-two) is a single-camera comedy created by James Cary and Richard Hurst. The eight episode series follows a British bomb disposal detachment serving in Afghanistan and features a group of soldiers who really enjoy being soldiers. The comedy will take the audience from moments of intense action to the fractious camaraderie as the unit waits around for their next tasking. BBC In-House Comedy Productions is producing, with Michelle Farr serving as producer and Iain B. MacDonald on board as series director. Production on Bluestone 42 is expected to last through December, with BBC Three eyeing a Spring 2013 premiere for the series.
