Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files, is returning to television with a new drama series produced by independent studio Georgeville Television titled The After.

Written by Chris Carter, The After has been described as a thriller that tells the story of an unexplained event and features elements of science-fiction, suspense, action and paranoia. Speaking of The After, Marc Rosen, CEO of Georgeville Television, said: “Chris has woven his mythology magic within a very human, grounded story about the moment when we realize all of our worst fears about the world and its future.” The series will be produced by Georgeville Television (GVTV) and will be shopped to international buyers at MIPCOM 2012 by distributor Sierra/Engine Television.

This new project from Carter comes after an unsuccesful attempt to launch a new series known as Unique. The drama project, despite being well received by a number of network executives who saw the pitch, ultimately didnt sell. Meanwhile, GVTV has had a successful run in the short time it has been in operation. The independent studio is producing a Blakes 7 remake for Syfy and a thriller series about a Pandemic for ABC.
