Fox is giving its Tuesday night comedy block a real sign of confidence. Just one week after ordering an additional two episodes of The Mindy Project, the network has also ordered two more episodes for New Girl and Raising Hope. That brings the total number of episodes for all three shows to 24.
Raising Hope, which in both of its previous two seasons has only aired 22 episodes, continues to be a decent performer for Fox. The comedy series has been averaging 4.0 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day. Similaraly, New Girl, which received a 24 episode order last season, has been pulling in very respectable numbers, averaging 5.1 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day.
The only weak point in Fox’s Tuesday night comedy block appears to be Ben & Kate, which received a back order for 5 additional episodes in lieu of the traditional “back nine.” I hear that the show will have completed it’s run by February at which point mid-season comedy The Goodwin Games will assume its Tuesday night 8:30 pm time-slot.
