CBS has given the green-light to Bake Off, a new reality show based on BBC Two’s hit series The Great British Bake Off. The eye network has ordered 8 episodes for the show’s first season, which is set to air in 2013.
Bake Off will see will feature skilled amateur Americans competing in baking challenges with one ultimately being crowned the winner by a panel of professional chefs. The series will be produced by Love Productions USA with Richard McKerrow serving as executive producer. The straight-to-series order for Bake Off comes on the heels of the season 3 finale of original series The Great British Bake Off on BBC Two in the UK, which pulled in series high ratings of 6.5 million viewers (25% share). The Great British Bake Off is considered one of the hottest reality formats on the market, with local versions of the series having been sold to broadcasters in Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, Australia, Norway and France.
