While a back nine order for Elementary has been considered a foregone conclusion, the fate of Vegas, which tends to skew older, had been less certain. Elementary ranks as the second highest rated show of the new season and has been winning its Thursday 10pm time-slot; averaging 14.3 million viewers and a 3.5 rating the in the adults 18-49 demo. Compared to the same time period last year, Elementary is up some 17% in the adults 18-49 demo. Meanwhile, the older skewing Vegas has been a solid performer in terms of total viewers while being softer in the demo. The drama series has been handily winning its Tuesday 10pm time-slot with 14.9 million viewers and a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, up some 8% compared to last year.
“Vegas and Elementary have opened strong, delivering big audiences and winning performances in important time periods,” said Nina Tassler, President Of CBS Entertainment. “Each of the shows has rich characters, big stars and a unique visual style that have stood out in the crowd, helping make two of our strongest nights even stronger.”
