Turner Broadcasting has renewed its UK produced series The Amazing World of Gumball for a third season of 40 episodes, which will air on Turner’s portfolio of Cartoon Network channels in 160 countries in 2013.
Created by Ben Bocquelet, The Amazing World of Gumball follows the misadventures of twelve-year-old Gumball and his family in the weird and wonderful town of Elmore. Featuring a stellar cast of characters, Gumball’s school friends include a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a cheerleading peanut, and a banana. The seris is produced by Turner’s London-based Cartoon Network Studio Europe and features the voices of Logan Grove, Kwesi Boakye, Kyla Rae Kowalewski, Teresa Gallagher and Dan Russell.
The renewal of the series comes after a very succesful second season run, which saw the series win a number of awards including the Cynopsis Kids Imagination Award for kids 2-11 comedy series in 2012 and the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association Award for Most Outstanding Children’s Program or Event’ in 2012. The show’s second season also posted impressive ratings. In the US, the second season premiere of The Amazing World of Gumball was the #1 broadcast of the day among boys 2-11 and 6-11, as well as #1 in its time period among kids 2-11, 6-11 and all boys demos.
