BBC Two has ordered a new six-part comedy series titled The Wrong Mans. The series is described as a dark comedy-thriller which sees two men drawn into a criminal conspiracy.

Created by James Corden and Matthew Baynton, The Wrong Mans follows two lowly office workers who get caught up in a deadly criminal conspiracy after one of them discovers a ringing phone at the scene of a horrific car crash. Answering this phone turns his world upside down, as he and Phil soon realize it is up to them to step up and save the day. They are in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong skills. They are The Wrong Mans. The comedy series is a co-production between BBC In House Comedy Production & Hulu (who will be airing the series in the US) and stars both Corden and Baynton. BBC’s Head of Comedy, Mark Freeland, and Hulu’s Charlotte Koh are executive producing, with Jim Field Smith on board as series director.

Speaking of the series, co-creatorMathew Baynton said: “James and I dreamt up The Wrong Mans during a break on the set of Gavin And Stacey four years ago. I’m excited to be working with the BBC and Hulu to finally make it a reality.”

While executive producer Mark Freeland added: “We are trying to do a comedy with explosions, a lot of running about, murder, extortion, friendship and love. I cannot wait. But I’m glad I’m not doing the running about bit.”
