AMC’s western drama series Hell On Wheels has been renewed for a third season of 10 episodes, which is set to air next summer.

Hell On Wheels revolves around Cullen Bohannon, a former confederate soldier who travels west to the construction site of the first transcontinental rail road. However, Bohannon’s journey is not that of a former soldier looking for work. He is on a mission to avenge the death of his wife and son who were murdered by Union soldiers, whom he has tracked to the construction of Union Pacific’s railroad. The drama series stars Anson Mount, Common, Colm Meaney, Dominique McElligott, Tom Noonan, Ediie Spears, Ben Ester and Phil Burke.

The show’s second season wrapped its run on October 7th and averaged a respectable 2.4 million viewers across all 10 episodes. That is down from the season one average audience of 3 million but the show didn’t have The Walking Dead as a lead in and the network was not being carried on Dish for the entirety of Hell On Wheels‘ second season.
